Gene Wilder in Boston!
by Ken Ellis
BOSTON - Veteran film star and two time Oscar nominee Gene Wilder
made a personal appearance at Borders book store in the Back Bay. He
declined to speak and went right to signing copies of his new book "The
Woman Who Wouldn't". Although it was disappointing to see that he
didn't speak about either the new and somewhat personal book or his
stellar film career, it was understandable, given the size of the crowd.
When spoken to by individual customers, the actor who had a frantic,
screaming reputation was very soft spoken. While questions abounded
in this wrtiers' head about working with Mel Brooks and Richard Pryor,
his relationship to either of the new Brooks stage plays or his life today,
they will just have to wait. It must have been a long day for the 75 year
old Wilder, one that began on the morning TV show "The View" and
ended in Boston that night.

top Delta exec. It is has been rumoured
that the meeting caused Wilder to begin
drinking heavily again, but there's no
proof of that here.
