Move over Ben Affleck. There's a new film taking over the oh-so-mean streets of
Charlestown this week called "OxyMorons," a low-budget indie flick helmed by actor
and North End restaurant owner Damien DiPaola, director Robert Scali, screenwriter
John Hickey and starring UFC fighter Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia.
The team kicked off filming at the Barnstable County House of Correction in Bourne last
week and has moved to the Boston area earlier this week. Production is scheduled to
continue until Sept. 21.
Crews set up shop yesterday under the Tobin Bridge armed with make-shift lime green
"OXY' signs lining the grittier side of Charlestown. Yep, the cautionary drug tale
following Hickey's rise and fall as a player in the local Oxycontin trade isn't outfitted
with fancy yellow production placards used on films like "The Town" and "Edge of
Darkness" and "The Surrogates."
However, the community is stepping up to help make the film a reality, including
support from Charlestown Against Drugs and St. Catherine's Church. Local boldfacers
like Michele McPhee, WAAF's Lyndon Byers and Richard DeAgazio have joined the cast
as extras.
According to the casting call posting on Craig's List (seen below), "OxyMorons" is "a
very dark horror film about the effects of Oxycontin on a family, town and its
inhabitants."

Boston Film Productions in association with Mood Swing Films is currently casting for the SAG Ultra-low
budget feature "OxyMorons". A very Dark Horror film about the effects of Oxycontin on a family, town and
it's inhabitants. After all the rumors surrounding the death of Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger from this
particular drug, the mix of local talent, and RED camera photography, this film is sure to be the next
Trainspotting or Kids. We are reaching out to the local community for any help we can get. We currently
have many TV and radio celebrities from the Boston area contracted into this film as well as former UFC
champion Tim 'The Maine-iac" Sylvia. This will be a real Hollywood style production without the attitude,
and with a ton of familiar faces. Take a break from "extra work", and get yourself on a low budget
production! All cast and crew will receive IMDB credit as well as catered meals, craft service, etc. Each day
a 100$ gift certificate to Ristorante Damiano will be award to one of the extra from a random drawing. We
are still casting Roles and background talent, as well as crew, for the following dates below. You do not
need to be available everyday, but please write in subject line what dates you are available for with
headshot and resume to Casting@bostonfilmproductions.com
